The story of Ibn Battuta – the super funky traveler and the new crop he brought back with him: "Blueberry Muffins"
the beginning
Ibn Battuta was born in a land that pulsated with coffee before it pulsated with people, among small farms that inherited the secrets of coffee generation after generation.
From his childhood, he was different from others; he was not preoccupied with abundant harvests, nor was he attracted to large quantities, but his heart always leaned towards what was rarer… towards what had a hidden story and a character that would not be repeated twice.
He grew up watching the farmers, following their footsteps, and learning more from the soil than from books.
He could distinguish the special grain from a thousand, smell the season before it began, and read the land as a poet reads the meter of his poem.
As for its name, “Ban Battuta,” it was a tribute to an ancient traveler, a man who traced the coffee bean trade around the world. It is said that he was the first to whisper to Battuta's family about strange, rare crops that revealed themselves only to those who understood them. Over the years, the name came to be applied to anyone who shared this passion… until it reached this young man who carried the story anew, adding his own spirit and his own journey to it. And so the legend began.
Funky Journey
Bin Battuta wasn't looking for traditional coffee… he was looking for something different, for a crop that awakens the senses, for coffee that has undergone unfamiliar processing and grown in environments that yield their harvest only once in a long while. They call it: the Fennec crop. Its flavors are distinct, bold, and appear in small quantities, as if the earth is saving them for those who appreciate their value. And yet… this wasn't enough for Bin Battuta.
Super Funky… The Spirit of the Journey
There, amidst the mist of the highlands, on remote farms in Colombia, Ethiopia, and Brazil, he found what he was looking for: extremely rare crops, processed in an “insane” way, and with a taste too profound to describe. These are the Super Funky crops.
They are not born every season, and they don't just differ… they rebel. Ibn Battuta always says: “The super funky… is a gift the earth gives when it is happy.”
From the trip… to the roastery
After years of wandering, Ibn Battuta returned, walking calmly towards the roastery. He stopped at the door, breathed in the aroma of coffee, and smiled as if he had arrived at his first home. He said, “Here… the stories begin.”

Recipe: How to make muffins
This coffee gets its name from a crazy, unique recipe. After harvesting, the beans undergo a special fermentation process where they are infused with molasses to enhance sweetness and fresh blueberry pulp to add flavor. The result? The beans absorb the fruit flavors, creating a juicy, natural body with a taste that's just like a blueberry muffin.
After this marathon brewing process, the coffee is washed and sun-dried in drying yards for up to 15 days to solidify and preserve this wild flavor profile. The result is a cup that defies logic. It's a juicy, expressive, and incredibly well-balanced cup. You get distinct and powerful fruity notes from fresh blueberries, supported by a sweet and substantial body of molasses and panela sugar. In short, it's a blueberry muffin in the form of a coffee cup.
